Toyota , the World's Largest Automaker. Fortunately, that finally means a return to building fun-to-drive cars after years of offering virtually nothing to tempt the enthusiast market. We can only hope that some of that sporting DNA finds its way into the rest of the automaker's staid lineup as well.

"The severe drop in the economy and auto market has created some of the most challenging times Toyota has ever faced," says new Toyota Prez Akio Toyoda. "I aim to take us back to what made Toyota successful for many years - making high-quality products at an affordable price."

According to Toyoda, two of the most eagerly anticipated (non-hybrid) vehicles from Toyota in years are moving ahead at full steam. First of all, the seemingly forever-delayed Lexus LF-A sportscar is back on track and headed Stateside. Secondly, Toyoda reconfirmed earlier reports that the planned affordable sportscar made in partnership with Subaru is on its way within the next few years. Finally, change we can believe in!

2010 Holden Commodore

This is the 2010 Holden Commodore differs from its current version only in badging: it will wear the acronym SIDI on its flanks, which stands for Spark Ignition Direct Injection. Pop the hood, though, and you'll find that the long-running Aussie sedan gets one of the smallest engines it has had in donkey's years: a 3.0-liter V6 with 190 kW (270 horsepower) and 290 Nm of torque (213 pound-feet).

That SIDI-equipped engine will power Omega and Berlina sedans, and they are also slated to get a long awaited six-speed transmission to replace their four-speed units. Calais and SV6 trim levels, on the other hand, will get the 3.6-liter SIDI engine that pumps out out 210 kW (281 hp) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft). The primary reason for the smaller six is added fuel economy, which Holden says its customers have repeatedly requested, and which might help it retain its 13-year-old title of the best selling car in Oz.

The 3.0-liter gets up to 13% better gas mileage (Omega Sportwagon), returning 9.3 l/km (25.3 mpg), with the help of standard equipment low rolling resistance tires. The GM marque also says that the Commodore can go from Sydney to Melbourne on one tank - according to Google Maps, that's 546 miles - with 7.5 l/km (31.36 mpg) during one real-world driving stint. If you're looking for even more from the Commodore, you'll get it at the end of 2010 when the car's four-year-old exterior is redesigned.

Revealed Diesel-electric powered 2009 BMW Vision EfficientDynamics Concept

Good news, Revealed Diesel-electric powered 2009 BMW Vision EfficientDynamics Concept
And here we have it, BMW’s secretive concept car with the radical rear tail lamps set for its Frankfurt showcase unveiled before the show – the BMW Vision EfficientDynamics. If you’ve been following the motoring scene closely you’ll remember back in early 2008 there was another concept car with the exact same name but with a much less radical body. Come to think of it the design was probably inspired by the GINA concept. 2008’s Vision EfficientDynamics Concept was built using the body of an X5 but featured a 2.0 liter twin turbodiesel (from the 123d) with 204hp mated to a 15kW electric motor.

The Phantom III was the final large pre-war Rolls-Royce. Introduced in 1936, it replaced the Phantom II.

(7340 c.c), single -plate clutch, 4 speeds, dual-coil ignition, 4 wheel brakes with servo plus independent handbrake, suspension independent front with enclosed coil spring and semi-elliptic rear, wheelbase 142", chassis weight without spare wheel or lamps 4050 lb (1837 kg)., tyres 7.00 x 18, price (chassis) £1850.

Early cars had hydraulic tappets, these being changed to solid adjustable tappets on later cars.

Wire wheels are fitted as standard, but many cars carry Ace wheel discs.

This would be the only V12 Rolls-Royce until the 1998 introduction of the Silver Seraph.

The Phantom III is unusual as it has twin ignitions, therefore 2 distributors,2 coils, and 24 spark plugs.Fuel is provided by a twin SU electrical pump. These can be switched separately or together.

The car featured on board jacking ,and a one-shot chassis lubrication system, operated by a lever inside the drivers compartment.

2011 BMW X5 [Spied] Wallpaper

As the 2011 X5 will be a refresh and not a redesign, the changes will be minor but should keep the ‘ute looking fresh. Up front we expect a slightly reworked front fascia, including a new bumper. The rear of the X5 will see a similar update, although rumors suggest the 2011 model will feature a one-piece hatch for the first time.

Inside the X5 should receive a few tweaks, but don’t expect anything radical. Powertrains will likely remain unchanged.

Look for the freshened X5 to debut at an upcoming auto show, with an on-sale date likely set for sometime in mid-2010 as a 2011 model.

pontiac G8 Sport Truck new info

The 2010 Pontiac G8 sport truck blurs the line between cars and trucks and is creating an all-new segment in the North American car market. This dramatically different vehicle blends the sporty handling of a performance coupe with the cargo capabilities of a light truck.

Based on the all-new Pontiac G8 performance sedan, the newest member of the G8 family has a longer wheelbase and a cargo bed suitable for either work or recreation. The G8 sport truck significantly stretches Pontiac's commitment to style and performance and is expected to arrive in dealers' showrooms in late 2009.

Pontiac has never shied away from offering segment-defining vehicles, going back to the original GTO,' said Jim Bunnell, Buick-Pontiac-GMC general manager. 'There's simply nothing else like the G8 sport truck on the road today, and we definitely believe that there are customers who will be excited by its distinctive design, performance and cargo capabilities.
